FAQs: BODY SCULPTING

How does the treatment work?

The ProMax Lipo uses a combination of 3 different technologies: Ultrasonic Cavitation, Radio Frequency and Vacuum Massage to penetrate deep into the target area, sending shockwaves to disturb the fat cells, so these can be easier removed and broken down, and additionally improving general skin laxity.

What is UltraSonic cavitation?

This is a completely safe and non-invasive treatment. Ultrasonic Cavitation technology is utilised for fat reduction treatments. Sound waves penetrate deep into the fat layer causing vibrations. This loosens condensed clumps so that fat can be released into the body. The body then removes this waste via it’s own immune system over the following 2 to 3 days.

What is radio frequency?

The ProMax utilises safe and effective Multipolar Radiofrequency and Vacuum Massage Technology. Using controlled waves of energy to heat the fat cells boosts circulation, reduces the appearance of cellulite and increases the metabolism of fat cells. The thermal energy also results in instant collagen contraction and creates long-term improvement to collagen fibres for firmer, tighter skin.

What is vacuum massage technology?

Vacuum massage technology provides powerful lymphatic drainage to help promote the removal of fat from the area and stimulate blood circulation. The vacuum is optional although; we do, recommend using it.

How many sessions do we recommend?

We recommend a full course of treatment to achieve the best results: 8-10 sessions in total, 2 sessions a week for the first 6 treatments and then reducing down to weekly sessions.

Who is suitable for treatment?

The ProMax Lipo is aimed at people who are looking to reduce small areas of stubborn fat, or who are already roughly the size they want it to be. This treatment is not a weight loss treatment! The treatment works best for individuals on a weight loss programme and who are in need of a boost to shift excess fat in certain areas.

Is this treatment permanent?

We can gain and loose fat quickly sometimes and most of us find our weight fluctuates somewhat. This treatment cannot stop that and therefore you may gain weight again on that area. The fat cells are still there. Some people will have maintenance treatments every 1-3 months to help retain the result, and with good diet and exercise there is no reason why you can’t.

Is the treatment painful?

For Ultrasonic Cavitation treatment is not considered painful. Most people find a warm, tingling sensation is felt. A high-pitched (chirping) sound is also heard.

For Radio Frequency treatment is not considered painful. Most people actually comment on how pleasurable and relaxing the heating sensation is.

For Vacuum treatment suction can be felt on the skin due to the vacuum. However, this often eases as the skin’s temperature increases. Please inform us if the suction is too intense/uncomfortable.

Are there any side effects?

This is a non-invasive treatment and side effects are very rare. However, you may have an increased need to go to the toilet (this is the fat cells passing through your urinary system). We do recommend to drink plenty of water as this will help the removal of the fat cells too.

After the Radio frequency treatment your skin may appear red and feel warm/hot to the touch, however, this should subside quickly. And honestly, you can even pop in for treatment on a lunch break or on your way home from work.

We ALWAYS provide an after-care sheet during your consultation for you to refer back too. It is VERY important for you follow our aftercare advice closely, as this can have a huge impact on possible side effects occurring.

How to maintain results?

We recommend you drink approximately 1 litre of water during the first few hours immediately after treatment, with increased quantities of liquids for at least 4 days post treatment.
Ensure you exercise throughout and after your course of treatment, as this encourages lipids to leave the fat cells and be released from the body through the body’s natural detoxification process. This will help you get the best results!
Some people will have maintenance treatments every 1-3 months to help retain the result.

Who is not suitable for treatment?

Like with most medical treatments there can be possible contra-indications, which can prevent one from having treatment. For example:

-Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding
-Presence of metallic prosthesis or intrauterine devices (IUDs aka contraceptive coils)
-Patients with cancer
-Recent scar tissue and inflammation or infection of the treatment area
-Lymphatic or immune system disorders
-Use of Roaccutane within the past 6 months
-Haemophilia or other vascular conditions

We recommend a consultation with your technician to ascertain, if the treatment will be suitable/successful for you.

What training did your ProMax Lipo technicians receive?

We are very lucky that all our technicians were directly trained by the ProMax Lipo manufacturer Lynton. We are paying for Lynton’s ongoing support and therefore we have the privilege to contact the manufacturer directly any time with queries and they are excellent at answering.
